What is a Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint is "the total set of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product" (UK Carbon Trust 2008).
Turning Life is committed to reducing pollution and improving Earth's climate conditions. We purchase carbon offsets for the shipment of every order purchased to maintain a ZERO Carbon Footprint. Carbon offsets, or the mitigation of carbon emissions through the development of alternative projects such as solar or wind energy, are an effective method to manage a carbon footprint. The carbon offset program is privately funded by the founders of Turning Life, LLC. These costs are NOT passed onto our customers.
When you receive the shipment tracking number for your order, you may enter that number in the box below to see the progress of your shipment and the estimated carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated during delivery. If you used the Track My Green Package link we provided in an email order status update, your package tracking information will automatically display on the map below.
Turning Life uses greenshipping.com as a broker for the purchase of carbon offsets from Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the supply and use of renewable energy, and one of the nation's leading carbon offset providers.
The BEF carbon offsets we purchase are focused on wind energy projects and are all based in the US. Keeping the projects at home means that we improve our air, create jobs, and can see the benefits of our efforts.
BEF’s Carbon Offsets meet rigorous environmental criteria endorsed by three leading environmental organizations including The Natural Resources Defense Council. To our knowledge, BEF is the only Carbon Offsets provider that performs such project analyses. In addition, our BEF offsets are Green-e Certified.
Product Content Label for BEF Wind Energy Offsets - 2009
BEF Wind Energy Offsets from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) are a greenhouse gas offset product based upon renewable energy resources. For every unit of electricity generated from renewable sources, an equivalent amount of BEF Wind Energy Offsets is produced. A purchase of BEF Wind Energy Offsets supports new renewable electricity generation, which offsets the environmental effects of burning coal, gas and other fossil fuels across the US.
BEF uses the greenhouse gas offset methodology established in the Green-e Climate Protocol for Renewable Energy for BEF Wind Offsets. The Green-e Climate Program certifies that BEF Wind Energy Offsets meet the minimum environmental and consumer protection standards established by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions. For more information on Green-e Climate certification requirements, call 1-888-63-GREEN or log on to www.green-e.org.
